Locking in for school is very important for getting high grades, especially for grade 11 and 12 when taking college or university courses for whatever is needed for what we want to do in college or university. This is because when you apply for college or university, they would check your marks first to see if it is high 60s or 70s for college and high 70s or 80s for university in order to get into college or university.
10 successful ways to lock in for school

Use your time wisely during the work period
There is going to be times in class where your teacher is gonna give you the whole period to do the assignment that the teacher gives you, or if you already finished that assignment way before the due date then you could also use that period to do your unfinished work from your other classes.
Got a spare? Use that time to get your work done on time
If you have a spare in grade 11 or 12, then you could also use that time to do your work in the library or in an empty area in the school so that it is done on time, especially when your teacher is going to go around and check if you have completed the work or not and if it is worth marks, even just for completing it instead of wasting your spare period doing nothing.
Do your homework
Your teachers will always give you time to complete your work at home if you have not finished it in class. If you do not get work periods or you do not have a spare period to complete your work, then another option would be for you to do it at home as you have a lot of hours to get it done, especially assignments that are due by midnight.
Avoid distractions
The one thing we all get distracted with the most is cell phones, in order to avoid that distraction, put your phone on "Do Not Disturb" so that the notifications do not pop up while you are doing your work and also put it in an area that is not near you so you can avoid the urge of wanting to go on your phone while needing to lock in for school. When you finished your work, you can then turn off "Do Not Disturb" and go on your phone again when all of your work is done.
Review your notes over and over again for an upcoming test/quiz
When finding out that you have a test or quiz coming up, take notes on either a review package that your teacher gives you, or create your own review package on paper to keep it organized instead of just reading your notes that you already wrote on your notebook. Once you finished writing your notes, look at them multiple times in order to have them memorized before the test/quiz, look at them as soon as you finished writing, look at them before you go to sleep, look at them as soon as you wake up in the morning, look at them before leaving to go to school, look at them as soon as you get to your first period class, etc.
Participate in class
There is going to be times where your teacher is going to pick students to answer questions to see if you remembered them or not. Even if you get the answer wrong when you raise your hand or when the teacher calls you, it shows you at least participated in class, which taking up work or doing an assignment together as a class mostly recommends sharing what you got and not needing to worry if you get the answer correct or not. Just do not over participate, which means you do not need to share what you got for every single thing as it is a class where we need to let other students share what they got as well.
For group work, work together to get it done faster
There is going to be times where you are working with other students, which is called a group project. In order to get this type of assignment done ahead of time, work together as a team, which means every member of the group does something in the assignment in order to get participation marks and for everyone in your group to enjoy working with you which will then make them want to work with you on the next group project.
Ask questions
Asking questions will help you understand stuff better so that you do not get lost or confused on what your teacher is giving you for an assignment, a group project, a presentation, and a test or quiz. There is no need to hesitate to ask questions on anything you are working on, because your teacher will always be happy to help you know better on what is going on, and with group projects, there is going to be members of your group that will take lead in the group, and you are always welcome to ask them questions, or even just anyone in your group, so it shows you are participating, collaborating and working together as a team.
Take a few breaks for at least 20 minutes
When doing a lot of homework or studying for a test/quiz, it gets very exhausting as it could take all day to finish, to avoid getting too stressed while doing all that, take a few breaks for at least 20 minutes so that your brain can cool down for a little bit. You could also use the break time to get something to eat or drink and to use the washroom so you do not have to worry about pausing during your homework or study time to do all that. I highly do not recommend you using your 20 minute break time to nap, because then you could end up sleeping for an hour, or even more, which then you lost all the time to do your homework or study for a test/quiz and would have to stay up all night finishing it.
Pay attention to deadlines
When you get assignments, presentations and group work introduced to you by your teacher, they are always going to tell you when the deadline is to get them done by, or if you have a google classroom or d2l, it will always show when the deadline is, so be aware of that so you know how much time you have to get them done by and when the last day to hand in the work is. The reason is because some teachers do not accept work that is handed in late, and you could lose 10% of marks per day if the work has not been handed it on the due date or before that, and when you reach 50%, you get an automatic 0, so pay very close attention to the deadlines of work that has been introduced to you by your teacher, so that you do not lose 10% of marks per day, and you could even get marked just for completing it, which your teachers will only mark the work just for completing it and not what you wrote.
