Overthinking

Overthinking happens when someone thinks too much about a situation, decision or problem. Instead of finding a way to assess the problem, they happen to only think about the same problem over and over again in circles. This can make one person feel anxious or even stressed, even if it’s such a small issue. Overthinking means making a simple situation more complicated than they should.

One of the many problems of overthinking is that it limits a person from making a difference. They spend too much time worrying about things that could go south, instead of thinking of a way to solve the situation. It also affects a lot of aspects in life such as sleep, relationships, and self confidence. A lot of overthinkers such as me repeat the same phrase: “what if” over and over again that only adds more to the problem.

Overthinking is mainly caused by fear, insecurity, or the want to avoid making mistakes. These heavy thoughts affect the decisiveness of a person into a complicated decision. Overtime, the habit of overthinking can reduce the ability to enjoy life without worries  and the break of confidence in oneself.
