How to Deal With Burnout

Feeling burnt out isn’t just for adults working 8 hours everyday, it affects teenagers as well. Between school, extracurricular activities, part-time jobs, and the constant pressure of social media, it's easy to become mentally and emotionally drained. The solution to burnout is to stop running from it and do something about it.

If you're always exhausted or feel like nothing has any point, that's your mind and body telling you that a change has to be made. Begin by establishing boundaries. Say no to additional responsibilities when you're already bogged down and allow yourself to rest.

Make getting a good night's sleep a priority, pace yourself while you study and don't overlook the value of going outside and getting some fresh air to calm down. Solving the feeling of being burnt out also involves getting reconnected to the things you enjoy. Hobbies, hanging out with friends, or just doing nothing.

Attempt to change your "I have to" mindset into an "I get to" mindset; it changes your attitude towards your responsibilities and replaces the feeling of needing to do something with the feeling of wanting to. Burnout doesn't imply you're lazy or broken, it just means that you’ve been going too fast or too hard for too long, and you need to rest. Treat yourself well, and leave some room for your well-being.
