How to Deal With a Lot of Workload

Having a lot of workload can feel overwhelming. Imagine looking at your to-do list and realizing you’ve got homework from every class, chores at home, maybe a part-time job, and barely any time for yourself. It might make you feel like you can’t finish all these tasks on time and you’ll end up wasting time worrying about what to do instead of doing it. That pressure and stress can build up quickly and make you feel anxious or even burnt out. The worst-case scenario is that you might avoid everything just to get a break from all the work but what happens in reality is that the more tasks you avoid, the more difficult/worse it gets.

Statistics show that too much workload without breaks can affect your sleep, your mood, and your mental focus. You might feel tired all the time, lose control of your emotions, yell at people easily, or lose motivation completely. When all this stress piles up, it can also make you feel like you're failing even when you're working hard. It’s very important to learn how to manage your time and take care of yourself in the middle of all the chaos.

So what can we do to handle a heavy workload? Start by breaking things down into smaller tasks and focusing on one thing at a time. Making a to-do list and organizing tasks can help you feel more in control of what you’re doing. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from others, even if that person is a teacher, parent, or especially a friend. Also, take short breaks between tasks to clear your mind. Even a 5-minute stretch or walk can help reset your focus and prepare you for the next task. If there’s too much for you to handle, even when you’re trying your best, it’s okay to let it go and do it the following day. Don’t work yourself out too much or else it will take a toll on your mental health.
