Emotional Intelligence in the Age of Social Media

We spend so much time on social media, but sometimes I wonder if it’s messing with how we deal with real people. Emotional intelligence is about understanding your emotions and other people’s, but when you’re always behind a screen, it’s easy to forget how to actually talk and feel. Emojis and “lol” don’t really show how someone’s doing.

It’s important to step back and practice being real. Ask people how they’re actually feeling, not just replying with “cool” or “same.” Being able to read people’s vibe in person helps in school, at work, and even in friendships. Social media is fun, but it’s not a replacement for real connection.
