What is a digital detox? A digital detox is a deliberate break from digital devices to reduce screen time. Since a lot of students are addicted to their phones, they think they don’t have time to complete their task. But they do have time, if only they put down their phone, they would realize that they have a lot more time. There’s many ways to slowly do a digital detox because it might be hard for some people to go straight away. Plus there are benefits to the digital detox as a student.
Firstly, the different methods of doing a digital detox is to turn off notifications because consent of having to be informed is what is distracting. As well as making the screen black and white since the bright colours of the screen is what attracts students to wanting to check their apps more. Having a designated free device hours, where the devices will be put somewhere else so that you can have the “break”. Having the break helps you refresh your mind so that you can continue working on your work a lot better. When eating meals, having your phone away will be another way to reduce screen time and be able to have interactions with whoever you are eating dinner with. Lastly, another strategie is to make your bedroom a no tech room, it's easy to start scrolling when you reach for your phone to switch it off. It's best if you can leave your phone out of reach at night and invest in an alarm clock.
Secondly, the benefits of digital detox as a student are that it reduces stress, improves your focus, allows you to get better sleep, and gives more time to do things that you enjoy. These are some of the benefits that the digital detox helps with while in school and for your personal life. As mentioned before, students say that they don’t have time but with this digital detox it shows you that if you put the devices away it will help reduce the stress since you will have the time to do the work. It as well lets you focus on the tasks that need to be completed. But never forget that once all the work is done and the phone is away, the sleep you will have will be the best one yet. Furthermore, being able to do the things you enjoy is always a plus especially when you do a digital detox, where it will clear up more time for it.
In conclusion, a digital detox has many benefits for students that are worth it. As well has many strategies to be able to do the digital detox. Now you know that you don’t have time is just an excuse. Remember that the digital detox reduces the amount of screen time spent on the devices.
