What are SMART goals? You probably have heard of it when you were in elementary school. SMART means specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based. Each one how to make a goal reasonable. This method will extend your goals as in saying “I will exercise” say “I will do squats for 10 minutes” as an example. The SMART goals are to make your actual goals a lot more detailed.
S is specific, in order for a goal to be effective, it needs to be specific as in asking questions like “ what steps need to be done to accomplish this goal. M means measurable, making them measurable is to make it easier to track the progress and to know when you’ve reached the finished line. A is for achievable, this is the point in the process when you give yourself a serious reality check. Goals should be realistic and ask yourself: is your objective something you can reasonably accomplish? R means relevant, asking yourself: why are you setting the goal you are setting?. You need to make sure that the goal is relevant to the present day and not a dream that you want to achieve in the future. See what you can do now to be able to achieve that future goal. Lastly, T for time-based, to properly measure success, you need to know when you want to complete the goal. Once you know then you can start achieving your goals that you have in mind.
In the end, this method of setting up and achieving goals is here for students to learn and see the steps to use SMART. Never forget, specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time based that is what SMART is. Just know that when making goals use SMART. Remember, goals are intended to focus attention and resources on what is most important so that you can be successful in achieving your priorities.SMART Goals are goals for your day-to-day.
